In an exciting new research, scientists have identified the culprit that inhibits hair growth, an achievement that can help develop targets for hair restoration, thereby ending the frustration and embarrassment of baldness.

According to experts, excessive amount of protein known as prostaglandin D2 or PGD2 may be triggering androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common pattern of hair loss found in men.

They found PGD2 was causing the hair follicles to shrink and to produce tiny, thin hairs, which grew shorter and less visible with time.
